Our Story

This is us, Chris and Suzie Hoare with our Son Mitchel and his wife Charlotte.

We are passionate King Country Sheep and Beef Farmers, and we are on the journey to be improving the indigenous biodiversity on our farm. Growing things has also been something that we as a wider family have enjoyed doing. After experimenting with propagating our own plants for use on our farm, we wanted to be able to share that with our community so we have recently launched Te Tawai Nursery.

We can supply you with native trees, plants and shrubs as well as a range of hedging plants. These can be used for erosion control, riparian and wetland areas, carbon farming and beautification of your farm or garden.

We are fortunate to have built great relationships with other local growers to refine our processes to do this at scale around our very full lives.

Te Tawai is the Māori name for the Beech tree. The land in which we have set up our nursery was once a predominant stand of Te Tawai.

We are looking forward to sharing more of our journey with you as we grow.
